A total of 21,674 member-consumers of Central Negros Electric Cooperative voted “Yes” to the Joint Venture Agreement between CENECO and Primelectric Holdings Inc., during the first two days of the plebiscite, according to the report of the Over All Plebiscite Committee.
The number of those who voted No was recorded at 6,067, the report added.
The CENECO member-consumers who trooped to polling places on June 24 and 25 to cast their votes were totaled at 27,741.
On Day 1 of the plebiscite, the Yes vote got 13,587, compared to No votes of 3,748, and 8,087 additional vote for Yes, as well 2,319 for the No vote on Day 2, it added.
192,188 CENECO member-consumers are eligible voters.
Seventy-eight percent of the voters in the first two days plebiscite voted Yes to JVA, against 22 percent of No votes, the report further said.
Atty. Eduardo Padios is the chair of the Plebiscite committee, with members of the CENECO Board as the canvassers.
The JVA plebiscite will continue on July 1 and 2, and then 8 and 9.
For the JVA to be approved, it needs the concurrence of 50 percent plus one of CENECO consumer-members.*
