Twenty-two suspected drug peddlers were accounted for by the police in Western Visayas in two days of campaign against illegal drugs, which yielded P4.48 million worth of suspected shabu.
Of the 22 drug suspects arrested on October 9 and 10, four were tagged by the police as High Value Individual drug personalities, while the 18 others were categorized as Street Level Individual drug suspects.
Among the police units in the region, the Iloilo City Police Office had the largest volume of illegal drug confiscations, amounting to a total of P3,468,000. This was followed by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office with seizures of around P476,000 worth of suspected shabu, and the Bacolod City Police Office with P333,200.
Other units that contributed were the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, with seizures of around P173,000, and the Aklan Police Provincial Office with P34,000 worth of confiscated illegal drugs.
The suspects are now under police custody and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, according to regional police spokesman PLt. Col. Arnel Solis.*
