Western Visayas will soon have an additional 225 police officers for deployment in the region, after those police recruits took their oath of office on November 14 at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.
Regional police spokesperson PMaj. Mary Grace Socorro Borio disclosed that the recruits will undergo comprehensive training at the PNP Regional Training School 6, covering various aspects of law enforcement, including community engagement, crisis response, and ethical conduct.
The new police personnel were chosen after a stringent screening process conducted by the Regional Screening Committee on Recruitment.
Borio said the oath taking ceremony marked the beginning of the official duty of police recruits, where they pledged their commitment to upholding the principles of justice, protecting the public, and maintaining peace within the region.
In a statement, PBrig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, regional police director of Western Visayas, who officiated the ceremony and administered the oath to the recruits, emphasized the start of the recruits’ role in ensuring the safety and security of the region.
“As you stand here, taking the oath to serve and protect, remember that you are not just fulfilling a duty; you are embracing a calling to make a difference in the lives of those you serve. The badge you will wear is not just a symbol; it is a commitment to justice, fairness, and the preservation of peace. The path you have chosen is not an easy one. It requires sacrifice, resilience, and an unyielding dedication to the values that define the Philippine National Police,” Villaflor told the police recruits.*
