The 228 Candidate Soldiers (CS), who are up for deployment soon in different infantry units of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division in Negros, Panay and Bohol, yesterday started their 16-week rigorous Basic Military Training at Camp Macario Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz.

Maj. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, 3ID commander, said that the training of 228 soldier-aspirants immediately commenced yesterday, after taking their oath at the military camp grandstand, witnessed by their parents and family members.

Arevalo, who led the oath-taking rites, said the soldier-aspirants will be taught with the basic foundations of soldiery and the Army’s core values as being the future defenders of the nation.

He added that the 228 Candidate Soldiers were chosen as the best among the thousands of aspirants who lined up to fulfill their dreams of becoming part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Arevalo reminded them to take the training seriously, and always put their best in everything they do.

“The more we sweat in the training, the less we bleed in the battle,” he told the soldier-aspirants.

Arevalo also informed them the mantra of 3ID, which is “loved by the people, feared by the enemy.”*
