The recently concluded 23rd Negros Open held at Lopue’s East Bowling Center from June 27 to July 2, which saw the participation of bowling legend Paeng Nepomoceno, with former World Cup champion Kriziah Tabora, and the National RP training pool, came to a triumphant close.
More than 150 bowlers nationwide participated in the tournament, with bowling teams coming from Baguio all the way to Cagayan de Oro.
Leading the awarding ceremonies were Bacolod Councilor Thaddy Sayson, Philippine Sports Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo, and Philippine Bowling Federation president Atty. Ed Santos.
The champions were Atty. Ed Santos – Pasig Bowlera Association (Seniors Division); Kenneth Agujo – STAI Youth (Mixed Youth Division), Classified Division; Minnie Chua – STAI (Mixed Classified Division); and Grace Gella – Tenpin Bowling Asso of Makati / EXXXXCEL (Mixed Open).
Santos came from behind with nerves of steel to capture his trophy, while Agujo had a sterling almost perfect game to lead the mixed youth Division. Chua showed that winners never quit to lift her trophy as Mixed Open Champion, while Gella displayed why she belongs in the National team while bagging the mixed open crown.
