Twenty four contractual and casual employees of the Binalbagan municipal government are expected to lose their jobs after testing positive for illegal drug use, Mayor Emmanuel Aranda disclosed on Wednesday.
The 24 are among the 400 municipal employees subjected to drug testing on February 11 in Binalbagan.
Aranda said he will no longer renew the job contracts of those tested positive for drug use. They were working in different departments of the municipal government.
This action demonstrates the sincerity of the local government unit in ensuring a safe, healthy, and drug-free workplace, he added.
Next to be subjected to drug testing are regular employees, Aranda further said, although he did not announce the exact date.*
