Flooding due to heavy rains triggered by thunderstorms and the shearline yesterday led to the temporary evacuation of 261 families, composed of 784 persons, in seven barangays of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
The affected barangays were Luna, Daga, Caduhaan, Burgos, Sicaba, Cabahug, and Mabini in Cadiz City, while two barangays of Manapla, including Purisima and 1-A, also experienced flooding as high as four feet, according to a report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.
However, by 2 p.m. yesterday, the flooding had subsided.
Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. said the majority of evacuees have already returned to their homes, except for some children of less than 10 families staying at the evacuation center in Brgy. Daga,Cadiz City.
However, face to face classes, both in private and public, in Cadiz City, were suspended yesterday, until further notice, to ensure everyone’s safety, as reported by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.
Face-to-face classes will temporarily transition to the Alternative Delivery Mode until the suspension is lifted, it added.*
