267 fugitives, 67 drug suspects nabbed in 7 days

The Police Regional Office 6 arrested 267 wanted persons and 67 drug suspects in a weeklong simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operations dubbed as “Birada Semana” Western Visayas, from May 23 to 29.

Of the 267 fugitives, 43 of them are classified as Most Wanted Persons (MWP) and 224 considered as Other Wanted Persons (OWP).

A total of 129 fugitives were accounted for by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, of which 11 included in the MWP listing.

On the other hand, the Bacolod City Police Office also effected the arrest of 14 fugitives during the same period.

Of the 67 neutralized drug personalities, 28 of them were arrested by NOCPPO, BCPO – 22, Iloilo City Police Office – 9; Iloilo PPO – 5, Guimaras PPO – 2; and Capiz PPO – 1.

The apprehension of 67 drug suspects also resulted in the confiscation of an estimated 385 grams of shabu and 8.3 grams of dried marijuana leaves with a total market value of P2.6 million.

In the campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms, six were arrested, while 161 others were nabbed for illegal gambling, where apprehensions yielded P28,739 in cash bets.

A total of 157 firearms and 26 explosives were surrendered and deposited to different police units across the region.

“Birada Semana” is PRO6 initiative to sustain its efforts in accomplishing targets through deliberate and sustained police operations, PLt. Col. Arnel Solis, regional police spokesman, said.*
