276 cops to secure PRISAA

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region will deploy 276 police personnel to secure participants and sites of the National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) 2026, scheduled from May 9 to 15.

PLt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-NIR, said the police personnel have been strategically deployed to ensure sufficient manpower and operational readiness across all key areas.

The 17th edition of PRISAA, which will be held in Bacolod City, is expected to bring together over 12,000 delegates and student-athletes from 17 regions to compete in 21 sports, featuring the debut of obstacle-course racing.

Additional augmentation from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office is also expected to further reinforce security operations of BCPO.

The comprehensive deployment, according to Malong, is designed to reinforce ground security, strengthen inter unit coordination, and ensure swift and effective response capabilities throughout the duration of the event, thereby safeguarding the safety and convenience of athletes, officials, delegates, spectators, and the general public.

The PRO-NIR is also working in close coordination with local government units, event organizers, and partner agencies to ensure a unified, seamless, and well-coordinated security framework. Preventive and proactive measures have been put in place to address potential threats, mitigate risks, and maintain peace and order at all times, Malong said.*
