2,973 students get DWSD educational assistance

The Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed P8.4 million educational assistance to 2,973 students in Negros Occidental and highly urbanized Bacolod City on its third payout on September 3.

Of the recipients, 497 are elementary students, high school students – 406, senior high school students -392 and 1,498 college students.

In its report, the DSWD reported that it distributed P32.6 million to 11,248 students all over Region 6.

Atty. May Rago-Castillo, DSWD Region 6 information officer, reported that the payout across Western Visayas on Sept. 3 was more orderly compared to the past payout schedules.

Castillo reminded beneficiaries to register online and wait for text confirmation.

The DSWD’s educational cash assistance is P1,000 for elementary students, P2,000 for junior high school students, P3,000 for senior high school students, and P4,000 for college students or those taking vocational courses.

It added that three students per family can avail of the cash assistance.*
