Three Negros Occidental Provincial Legal Office employees have been terminated from their jobs, Provincial Legal Officer Alberto Nellas Jr. confirmed yesterday.

Terminated were lawyers Ernie Magaspag and Roxenne Sumanting, and book binder Warlito Butalon, he said.

“They were terminated based on substantial evidence with regards to Daily Time Records irregularities,” he said.

They can file Motions for Reconsideration or file an appeal before the Civil Service Commission regional office, he said.

Magaspag said he and Butalon are filling motions for reconsideration as a matter of due process.

Sumanting could not be reached for comment as of press time, but she, Magaspag and Butalon have denied the allegations lodged against them.

The 60-day suspension of lawyer Ariel Cuaycong has ended and he has been reinstated to the PLO but the hearing of a similar complaint against him will continue, he said.

The hearing of Cuaycong’s case was delayed because his lawyer was placed under quarantine, Nellas said.

Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado Jr., Mambukal Resort head Ellen Marie Jalandoni and Ma. Mina Pellejo, former Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program Division officer-in-charge, have been assigned to the Negros Occidental Economic Enterprise Development Department pending resolution of administrative cases lodged against them, he said.

They have denied the allegations against them.*
