The National Vaccination Operations Center has directed Bacolod City to inoculate 66,000 residents during the national mass vaccination program from November 29 to December 1.
Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) executive director Em Ang said that Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia together with the Covid-19 Vaccination Center (CoVaC) has instructed that all Barangay Resbakuna Centers be kept open during the three-day period to help the city reach its quota of 66,000, which is very high.
Ang said this is about 22,000 residents per day. Even at the height when they were vaccinating Bacolod residents for first dose, the highest that they reached in a single day was just 12,000.
So, they have requested that Bacolod’s quota be reduced a little. But apparently, this was set by the NVOC. Nonetheless, they will try their very best to inoculate as many people as they can, she said.
Ang said this will include administering vaccination to pedia, first and second doses, as well as booster shots for those who are fully vaccinated.
The booster shot will be given 14 days after a fully vaccinated person receives his/her second dose and six months after his/her primary dose, she said.
They will only be administering Moderna vaccine during the national mass vaccination drive, although Sinovac and Pfizer are also allowed, Ang said.
About 52 to 53 percent of Bacolod residents have been fully vaccinated, while those who have received their first dose are more than 80 percent. So, with the 3-day mass vaccination campaign, they hope to increase the number of fully vaccinated individuals to 70 percent, she said.
Ang said the mayor and the CoVaC are targeting to reach 70 percent of the population of Bacolod before the end of the year.
Bacolod has all five vaccine brands available and their mega vaccination centers are open and that they have 24/7 vaccination service. So Bacoleños have no reason that they cannot avail of the vaccination program, she said.*
