The Negros Occidental provincial government has successfully transitioned three key government facilities to solar power.
In partnership with WeGen Energy Philippines, Inc., the provincial government has completed and fully operationalized solar energy systems at the Provincial Capitol Building, Food Terminal Market of Negros Occidental (FTMON), and Negros Residences, as the year 2025 is about to end.
More renewable and sustainable projects will be pursued to support good governance in the province through responsible resource management, strengthened energy security, and people-centered development, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said in a statement issued by the Provincial Capitol Public Information Office.
The provincial government is also targeting to power with solar the Negros First Cyber Center and Rice Processing Center in Bago City.
By utilizing renewable energy for its administrative and commercial hubs, the provincial government aims to reduce its carbon footprint and lower operational costs, Lacson said.
He added that the use of solar energy to power seven of its main buildings will save an estimated 132,080 to 158,000 kilowatt-hours per month, which translates to P1.5 to P1.8 million in monthly savings.*
