A septuagenarian and a person with disability were among those killed on Christmas day in Negros Occidental.
A 74-year-old was declared dead on arrival at a hospital after he was hacked to death on December 25 at Purok Paghidaet in Brgy. Tampalon, Kabankalan City.
Initial police investigations showed that the victim and his son were on their way home when they were confronted by an armed 38-year old-suspect, identified as a certain Born, a Small Town Lottery agent.
Without any justifiable reason, the suspect hacked the victim’s son, who managed to escape. The victim, who was left behind, was hacked by the suspect, who immediately fled the scene.
A 49-year-old person was also found dead by his wife in their backyard on Dec. 25 at Sitio Cabilocan, Brgy.Camindangan in Sipalay City.
The victim succumbed to gunshot injuries in the head and chest and was declared dead on arrival at the Sipalay City Health Office, as reported by the police.
A person with disability (PWD) was reported by the police to have burned to death on Dec. 25 at Purok 2 in Brgy. Asia, Hinobaan, Negros Occidental.
The 39-year-old amputee died after his residence was gutted by fire.
Prior to the fire, the victim and his stepson, who reported the incident, were engaged in a drinking session in connection with the Christmas season celebrations, according to the police.
Estimated damage to property was placed by the authorities at P10,000.*
