Dengue-related deaths in Negros Occidental have risen to 27, and cases are now up by 1,008 percent, compared to 357 logged from January to August 27, 2021, to the current 3,956 cases, over the same period this year, records of the Provincial Health Office show.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, however said that they noted a steady decline in dengue cases over the past four weeks, which went further down to 85, based on the PHO Morbidity Week 34 report.
Three more dengue deaths were recorded, increasing fatalities to 27, as of Aug. 27.
PHO records further showed that the dengue attack rate for Negros Occidental is 150.82 cases per 100,000 population, with La Carlota City having the highest attack rate at 46.8 percent per 100,000 of its total population.
Clustering of dengue cases were reported in 119 barangays of Negros Occidental, with Himamaylan City having the highest number of total cases at 341 and Pontevedra with the highest total increase at 5,166 percent.*
