Three suspects were intercepted and arrested at Comelec checkpoints on January 14 in Bacolod City and Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, for the possession of illegal drugs and a deadly weapon.
Nabbed by the police at a checkpoint in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, were two suspects identified by the police as Aljon and Romnick, both residents of Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia.
Their apprehensions yielded 0.5 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P3,400, and a 10-inch knife.
During the inspection, Aljon was seen by the police dropping a transparent plastic sachet, containing suspected shabu.
Meanwhile, a certain Wilson, 24, who was flagged down for not wearing a helmet at a checkpoint in Purok Kawayan, Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto was also arrested by the police after two sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from his possession.
Five other drug suspects, including a minor, were apprehended by the police in Escalante City and Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, for violation of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002, which also led to the confiscation of about nine grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P52,000 and a .38 caliber revolver with three ammunition, among other items.*
