3 nabbed in Bacolod drug busts

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) successfully apprehended three street-level drug suspects in two separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted between February 19 and 20.

The operations resulted in the seizure of approximately 10 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P68,000.

The first operation occurred late Thursday night in Purok Magayon, Barangay Sum-ag, where Police Station 9 officers arrested two suspects, identified as 42-year-old alias ‘Ruel’ and alias 30-year-old ‘Melchor,’ after recovering 6 grams of shabu worth P40,800.

Just hours later, on Friday afternoon, Police Station 8 operatives conducted a follow-up buy-bust in Purok Grasya, Barangay Singcang-Airport that led to the arrest of a 21-year-old suspect known as ‘Kerk.’

Law enforcement officials recovered an additional 4 grams of suspected shabu worth P27,200 during the second encounter.

All three individuals are currently in police custody and face multiple charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The BCPO in a statement said that these arrests are part of an intensified campaign to scrub local communities of illegal substances through proactive field operations.

Following the successful stings, authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious activities to help sustain the city’s peace and order.*
