Three of the 14 suspects charged for murder, in connection with the death of former Moises Padilla councilor Jolomar Hilario in 2019, surrendered to the police yesterday.
P/Maj. Randy Babor, Moises Padilla police chief, said he was informed by Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo that three of the respondents were on their way to the police station to surrender.
They were Councilor Jose Morito Flores, Quintin Remo Barangay Captain Felisa Villaflor, and her husband, Jonathan.
Babor said the surrendered suspects, who vehemently denied that they were involved in the killing of Hilario, are now detained at the police station custodial facility.
Respondents in the murder charge were denied bail by the court, he added.
Hilario, 51, who was running for re-election, was murdered in his home in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
The NPA Leonardo Panaligan Command had claimed responsibility for the killing of Hilario, whom they had accused of being a military asset.
Babor said they have yet to receive surrender feelers from other respondents in the murder charge.*
