The provincial government of Negros Occidental has terminated the services of 30 Capitol watchmen, who were either Job Order and Contract of Service workers, effective January 1.
The non-renewal of the job contracts to two security officers and 28 watchmen was stipulated in a letter of Provincial Human Resource Management Office officer-in-charge Felomina Gozon to Renelo Lastierre, head of the Security and Safety Division of the Negros Occidental, dated Jan. 3.
Lastierre served as the supervisor of the civilian Capitol watchmen assigned in various hospitals, among other properties of the provincial government.
In July last year, 39 Capitol-hired watchmen under the Security and Safety Division (SSD) of the provincial government of Negros Occidental, were pulled out from their respective assignments and reassigned to the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz yesterday confirmed the non-renewal of the job contracts of JO and Contract of Service Workers, based on their job performance, although he begged off from giving more details, as he has to sit down with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson regarding the final list.
Diaz, however, said that those JO and COS employees who tested positive for drug use will be terminated from their jobs, regardless of the results of the confirmatory testing.
Twenty Capitol based employees and seven other hospital based workers have tested positive for illegal drug use.*
