About 30 Covid-19 patients, who are in their last trimester of pregnancies, are now in isolation facilities in Bacolod City, executive director Em Ang of the Emergency Operations Center said.
Ang, who is also the city administrator, said that in the last two weeks, five Covid positive women had given birth in isolation facilities, and four in ambulances.
She said two other patients gave birth at home while on quarantine, and another one outside a clinic.
Ang added that another woman delivered her baby at the Education and Training Center School quarantine facility, bringing to 13 the Covid-positive patients, who gave births before reaching the hospital in just two weeks.

With the increase of Covid-19 cases among pregnant and postpartum women in Bacolod City, the EOC met with Dr. Mary Ann Matillano of the Department of Health Region 6 Family Planning and Safe Motherhood Program, and Dr. Irene Coscolluela, head of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital OB Gyn Department.
Also present in the meeting were DOH Development Management officer Ben Arnel de la Cruz, Well Family Maternity Clinics Association head Aleth Vingno, City Health officer-in-charge Dr. Edwin Miraflor, and doctors from various lying-in clinics of Bacolod.
Ang said the meeting aims to explore public-private partnership in the management of pregnant Covid-19 positive patients.
Meanwhile, CLMMRH head, Dr. Julius Drilon, said in an advisory, that the hospital’s OBGyn department will limit its admission to extreme emergency cases only, until further notice while the neonatal intensive care unit of the Department of Pediatrics will also do the same.
Drilon said that the hospital has collaborated and has established communication with local government units of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City to ensure effective and efficient coordination of referrals to address the needs of patients.
