A total of 310 households in six barangays of EB Magalona in Negros Occidental, are expected to be benefit from sanitary toilet facilities, which is a collaborative project of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and the concerned local government unit.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson led the turnover of sanitary toilet facility project on January 30, to beneficiaries in barangays of Alicante, Tanza, Alacaygan, Cudangdang, Nanca, and Pasil, all in EB Magalona.
The joint project, under the Provincial Integrated Safe Water Program, is the first in the 3rd district of Negros Occidental, which aims to achieve zero open defecation as well as prevent water-borne diseases such as cholera, among others.
A resident of EB Magalona in Negros Occidental, died last year because of cholera.
Lacson said that the project is proof of the Provincial Government’s commitment to the global call for a sustainable and water-secured humanity, by providing every Negrense household access to basic facilities.
He thanked Malacon and EB Magalona municipal officials for their counterpart support to the provincial government project.
The activity, which was held at Hacienda Alicante, in Brgy. Pasil, EB Magalona, was also attended by Vice Mayor Eric Matulac and the municipal councilors, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, who is also the Provincial Integrated Safe Water Council Action Officer, Pasil Punong Barangay Sharen Belen, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, among others.*
