The Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) issued a notice to explain to 32 regular employees of the General Services Office (GSO), for an alleged mass falsification of documents to obtain loans from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).
City Legal Officer Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu confirmed the investigation, stating that the employees are suspected of inflating their declared take-home pay in their loan applications.
“They processed everything and submitted documents to the HR but it was questionable as all were signed by the Assistant Department Head, including their net pay and loan application,” Chiu said.
He added that they applied for calamity loans, multipurpose loans, and computer loans, which were approved.
This alleged maneuver would allow them to qualify for and avail of the GSIS loan amounts that they might not have otherwise been eligible for based on their true income.
The City Legal Office said that since the employees net take-home pay is below P7,000 and with piled-up debts, they falsify it to a bigger amount to qualify for another loan.
Chiu stated that they are asking the employees to explain, including from the Assistant Department Head and Human Resource Management Office.
The regular employees availed of loan amounts from P50-60 thousand.*
