Typhoon Tino damaged 323 Bacolod school structures, according to the Department of Education.

Based on reports, a total of 134 school structures were totally damaged, while another 189 were classified as partially damaged.

The destruction spans 36 schools within the city, posing a significant challenge to the resumption of classes and the immediate needs of students and faculty.

The Bacolod City government and the DepEd are set to hold an emergency meeting to discuss and find immediate solutions to the situation affecting the city’s public schools.

In a media interview, Mayor Greg Gasataya said that the major challenge in public schools are fallen trees.

Meanwhile, clearing operations are underway across Bacolod’s streets. Teams are working to remove over 300 fallen trees, debris, and toppled power posts.*
