Thirty five passengers of Ceres Liner suffered minor injuries, as a result of a vehicular accident yesterday in Sitio Bandihan, Brgy. Salong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Jade Marquez, Vallacar Transit Inc. media relations officer, yesterday said that the incident occurred when the bus driver stopped in an uphill portion of the road to allow a passenger to disembark.
The driver unfortunately lost control of the passenger bus, which fell on its side after slowly moving backward, Marquez said.
She debunked claims that the passenger bus was overloaded, stressing that it has a seating capacity of 39.
Of the 35 passengers, only five are still being treated at the Kabankalan District Hospital for minor injuries sustained from the incident. All them are in stable condition, Marquez added.
The bus driver is now under investigation as a result of the incident, she added.*
