Thirty-five houses occupied by 159 individuals in Zone 1, Brgy. Bacuyangan, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental, were placed on a 14-day lockdown effective April 24, after an elderly resident, who tested positive for Covid-19, died earlier

The lockdown was based on an executive order issued by Mayor Ernesto Estrao, and will pave the way for contract tracing, Hinoba-an Councilor Jason Tembrevilla Tupas said on a social media post.

The 74-year-old woman was admitted to the Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital in Hinoba-an on April 17, tested positive for Covid on April 19 and was symptomatic, and died at a private hospital in Bacolod City on April 21, the Hinoba-an Rural Health Unit reported.

The ETDMH suspended hospital services on April 20 for disinfection.

Tupas said the municipal government of Hinoba-an will provide the essential needs of the affected residents.

As of April 24, Hinoba-an had six Covid-19 active cases, the Provincial Incident Management Team said.*
