A total of 360 neophyte police officers in Western Visayas have been sworn into the police service, after passing the rigid requirements for entry into the service.
PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, administered the oath of office of the new policemen and policewomen on Wednesday at Camp Delgado in Iloilo City.
In a statement, Wanky reminded the new police recruits to start right, as they embark in their journey as protector of the people and vanguard of rights of the oppressed.
“This is not just the fulfillment of a dream but the beginning of a transformative journey. As you take your oath, remember the responsibilities that come with it. Be teachable, grounded, and start right. These principles will guide you in becoming effective and honorable police officers,” he said.
Wanky also recognized and extended his sincerest appreciation to the collective efforts of the Regional Recruitment and Selection Board, whose dedication ensured the successful implementation of the recruitment program and the unwavering support of the families and loved ones of the neophyte police officers.
Seventy-two of the police recruits are women.
A total of 2,600 hopefuls in the region attempted to join the police service in October this year, with 360 passing the screening.*
