The Governor’s Cup Inter-District 3X3 Basketball Tournament officially kicked off at the covered court in Brgy. 2 of San Carlos City on October 15.
All the LGUs in the first district participated in the District 1 eliminations.
In the 16-under category, the cities of Escalante and San Carlos were the top two teams ranking first and second, respectively.
Escalante City proved to be a strong team as it ranked in second place in the 19-under category, while the municipality of Calatrava landed in the first place.
Among the participating LGUs in the District 1 eliminations were Don Salvador Benedicto, Calatrava, Toboso, Escalante City, and San Carlos City.
Apart from the District 1 eliminations, the Provincial Sports Office (PSO) also held the District 2 eliminations in the municipality of Manapla on the same day.
The participating teams were Sagay City, Cadiz City, and Manapla.
Manapla took full advantage of home-court advantage as they swept the top ranks in both the 16-under and 19-under categories.
The Cadiz City team also had a strong showing, landing in second place in both age categories.
Meanwhile, the Governor’s Cup Inter-District 3X3 Basketball Tournament will continue its District 3 and 4 playoffs in Silay City and Pulupandan on Oct. 22, respectively.
The tournament is among the sports activities that the PSO organized in the last quarter of 2022.
These sports events are part of the Abanse Negrense Sports Programs, spearheaded by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, in cooperation with PSO head Anthony Carlo Agustin.*
