Four more former members of the New People’s Army received P20,000 worth of Livelihood Settlement Grant from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion reported yesterday.
The financial assistance was turned over by DSWD- Region 7 on December 31 to the four ex-rebels on December 31 at the headquarters of the 302nd Infantry Brigade in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, which was witnessed by 1Lt. Eduardo Rarugal Jr, 94IB Civil Military Operations officer.
The four former rebels surrendered to the 94IB while its troops were conducting the Community Support Program (CSP) in the hinterlands of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, last year.
Seventy-three more former NPA in Negros Occidental got financial assistance totaling P1.6 million from the national government.
Each of the 73 former rebels received P20,000 livelihood settlement grants under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development assistance and assorted food items from the DSWD.*
