A proud milestone was celebrated at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City as 44 newly licensed civil engineers from across Negros Occidental formally took their professional oath in a meaningful ceremony led by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
The new engineers came from leading institutions in the province, including STI West Negros University, University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos, and Carlos Hilado Memorial State University. Surrounded by family, mentors, and fellow professionals, the inductees marked the beginning of their careers in the field of civil engineering.
The PRC administered the Oath of Professional, reminding the passers of their responsibility to uphold ethical standards, ensure public safety, and contribute to nation-building through quality infrastructure and engineering excellence.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers – Negros Occidental Chapter (PICE NOC) also conducted the oath-taking and induction of new chapter members, led by its officers and board of directors. The organization welcomed the young professionals into the engineering community, emphasizing mentorship, continuing education, and active participation in professional initiatives.
A highlight of the ceremony was the symbolic presentation of hard hats and PICE pins to the new engineers. The hard hat represented their readiness to enter the field and take on real-world engineering challenges, while the PICE pin signified their commitment to professionalism, integrity, and unity within the civil engineering community.
Inspiring messages from guest speakers encouraged the inductees to remain steadfast in their values, pursue lifelong learning, and serve society with competence, compassion, honesty and integrity. Cheers and applause filled the venue as the new engineers recited their oath — a moment many described as the fulfillment of years of dedication and sacrifice.
The ceremony concluded with the singing of PICE Hymn, photo opportunities, and a fellowship gathering, allowing the new engineers and their families to celebrate this important professional milestone together.
The event underscored the continued partnership between academic institutions, the PRC, and PICE NOC in nurturing future civil engineers who will help shape the infrastructure and progress of Negros Occidental.*
