
The first-ever Ultimate Obstacle Course Race challenge in Negros Occidental, the Sidlak Victorias Obstacle Race gathered over 450 racers from various municipalities and cities on September 30
Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez welcomed the participants and guests coming from Manila, Cebu, Capiz, Iloilo, and other neighboring provinces, cities, and municipalities.
Benitez disclosed that the activity came as a result of the LGU’s commitment to providing more inclusive sports activities for Victoriahanons and to elevate the sports tourism of the city.
The participants competed in 16 categories which hailed a total of 62 winners.
Elite and age category racers completed 24 obstacles, while the adult open category had 20 challenges.
Kids competitive and kids open categories have 12 and 9 obstacles, respectively.
The OCR Challenge was directed by World OCR Certified Coach Level 4, Cyrus Caesar Cenal, and UVM United Vismin OCR Community President Noy Zapata.
2022 Guinness World Record Holder Kaizen Dela Serna graced the activity as one of the participants of the obstacle race.
Along with the racers from diverse LGUs, some city officials, department heads, and employees also joined the OCR challenge.
Among them were Councilor Derek Palanca and City Administrator Atty. Lindolf De Castro who successfully completed the race under the Age Category 30 to 39.
Asenso Sidlak Foundation Inc. also collaborated for the realization of the Sidlak Victorias Obstacle Race as one of the program’s main organizers.
Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation (POSF) National Governing Body and United Vismin Obstacle Community – Visayas Governing Body also joined the event, a press release from the Victorias City Public Information Office said.*
