Forty-nine couples were united in civil matrimony in a ceremony solemnized by Honorable Mayor Alejandro Y. Mirasol of Binalbagan, last Wednesday, April 27, held at the covered court of Sitio Danao, Brgy. Biao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

He also stressed that through their marriage, those couples who bore children prior to their union now has the venue or remedy to legitimize their illegitimate children. He enjoined them to go and visit their local Civil Registry Office and start the processing the legitimation procedures.

Souvenir items and gifts were given to the couples. One of the highlights were the cash prizes awarded to the best in wedding gown, best in attire groom, gown with the longest train, longest kiss, longest living together couple, and most productive couple (with the greatest number of children).

The mass wedding ceremony or the Kasalang Bayan is an endeavor initiated by the Binalbagan LGU through the Office of the Mayor and was facilitated by the Municipal Civil Registry Office.

This event was also assisted by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office to bring this service closer to the far-flung areas of the municipality.*
