The San Carlos Negros Football Club (SCNFC) started the 5-day Pintaflores Cup U-16 category on October 25, at the SJRI Soccer Field, in coordination with the Office of Congressman Gerardo Valmayor Jr. and the San Carlos City government and the offices of City Sports and Tourism.

San Carlos City Football Club (FC); Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo Province; Bohol Football Association (FA); Bukidnon Faith FC-Valencia City in Mindanao; Forza FA from Manila; Davao Crocs of Mindanao; University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R)-Bacolod City; and Green Medics-Pharma FC of Bacolod City participated in the event.

The inaugural match lasted 90 minutes with a 15-minute break where the Bukidnon Faith FC won against Bohol FA with a 4-0 score.

Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona said that he is happy to see the players gathered in one place, especially in a tournament like this that promotes not only sportsmanship and camaraderie but also tourism, and looked forward to seeing more players participate next year.

Carmona also said that with the resumption of contact sports like football, health and safety protocols are implemented, among which is requiring players, coaching staff of participants, referees and others involved in organizing the activity to be fully vaccinated.

Jose Miguel Valmayor, SCNFC Board of Director, said the Pintaflores Cup is evident that San Carlos City provides high and quality football programs and also how supportive the government is to football thru the facilities, as well as how well the private institutions and organizations work together to be able to organize big events, even though San Carlos is just a small city.

He added that local coaches can also learn from coaches and players of other participating teams since each team plays differently.

He also shared that the coaches will also learn from the higher-level coaches to step up to be more competitive.

Jesus Facundo Combate Jr., local Sports Office in-Charge and George Carlos Apurado, Referees Assessor of the San Carlos City Negros Football Club, led the ceremonial kick-off, alongside Carmona and Valmayor.

The event is in line with the 30th Pintaflores Festival celebration.*
