Five more employees of the Silay City local government unit in Negros Occidental have tested positive for illegal drug use, bringing to 13 the total number of employees to turn out positive results, since last week.
The latest batch of LGU employees to test positive for illegal drugs are assigned with the Silay City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO).
Of the five CDRRMO personnel, one is a regular employee who has volunteered to resign, while the four other casual employees were terminated, disclosed Mayor Joedith Gallego.
Last week, five traffic enforcers of the same LGU were also dismissed after testing positive for the use of illegal drugs.
Another regular employee who also tested positive for the use of similar illegal drugs, also voluntarily resigned, Gallego said.
Meanwhile, two other watchmen of the city government who were arrested earlier during a buy bust operation inside a school campus in Silay City, were also dismissed from their jobs.
Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said that drug testing is a program of the Silay City government.
If he also hears about the same cases at the provincial government, Lacson said they can also perform a drug test.*
