Almost 50,000 students in 88 schools have been affected by the eruption of Kanlaon volcano, as of January 2, according to the Department of Education.
Records of the Department of Education indicated that 49,577 students have shifted to Alternative Delivery Modes (ADM) of education, where 31,935 are learners under the Schools Division of Negros Occidental and 17,642 are under the Schools Division of La Carlota.
ADM is a flexible way to provide basic education to students who may not be able to access traditional schooling, according to the Department of Education.
Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia Yulo announced yesterday that d face-to-face classes for elementary and high school students are still suspended in Moises Padilla until further notice. Similar announcements were also made by the municipality of La Castellana and the LaCarlota City government, due to unpredictable activities of the Kanlaon volcano.*
