
The Rotary Club of Bacolod, in partnership with the City Government of Bacolod City, celebrated the 52nd Boys and Girls Week.
Leading this year’s elected Boys and Girls Week officials are Girl Mayor Libby Ponce Tangco, Girl Vice Mayor Lorein Althea Opelario, the 14 city councilors and appointed department heads, officers, and supervisors.
Present during the November 18 flag ceremony was Past President and City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, who inducted the elected and appointed Boys and Girls officials, as well delivered the keynote message during the program, in the presence of Rotary Club of Bacolod members, headed by President Marjorie Dino, parents, teachers, and government employees.
Inducted Boys and Girls Week city officials are Tangco of St. John’s Institute (SJI) and Opelario of STI West Negros University.
City councilors are Christian Div Ledesma – Cabug National High School; Kurt Bryan Villanueva – SJI; Leone Christian Leongson – St. Rose of Lima; El Kenjee Ababa – Domingo Lacson NHS; Andrei Gabriel Pico – SJI; Anne Josephine Manayon – La Consolacion College; Noelle Cassandra Apuhin – Bacolod Tay Tung High School; Anya Therese Brito – SJI; Camille Therese Pedrajas – Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School; Althea Judema Billones – Sum-ag NHS; Paulene Therese Radislao – Colegio San Agustin; Daniela Cuevas – Holy Family High School; Arriana Grace Adisas – MAIHS; and Juliana Kim Jacedo – BTTHS.
City Mayor Albee Benitez with councilors Al Victor Espino, Jude Thaddeus Sayson and Israel Salanga welcomed and gave inspirational messages to the student participants.
According to the press release, the Rotary Club of Bacolod in partnership with the City Government of Bacolod has been training students for 52 years through the “Boys and Girls Week” program that aims to train the youth with effective leadership skills and good governance to ensure a brighter future for the next generations.
Alongside their counterparts, the Boy and Girl officials will serve the City of Bacolod for about five days, from November 18 to 22, and given the opportunity of being a city government official, they are expected to ask questions, join the planning, pass resolutions, participate in the sessions and interact with their counterparts and subordinates.*
