There are now 54 police personnel in Western Visayas, including 31 in Negros Occidental, who have tested positive for Covid-19, as of yesterday, the Philippine National Police Health Service said.

Of the 54 active cases, 26 were assigned at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, 10 at the Police Regional Office 6 headquarters in Iloilo, nine at the Antique PPO, five at the Bacolod City Police Office, and two from the Capiz PPO.

Three of the 26 NOCPPO personnel already recovered from the infection. The latest to be added to the list was a police commissioned officer assigned in Negros Occidental, who is confined in a hospital after exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms, the report added.

Of the 371 total confirmed cases among PRO 6 personnel assigned all over Western Visayas, 316 have recovered and two have died.

As of April 24, the PNP Health Service recorded 141 new cases of Covid-19 in the police force, bringing the total to 19,536, with 2,065 active cases, all over the country. It added that there were 128 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recovered personnel to 17,418.

PNP chief, Debold Sinas, in a statement issued by the PNP Public Information Office, reminded all personnel to double their protection against the virus, being among the frontliners. “If you are not feeling well, immediately seek medical attention. Avail of the free consultation,” Sinas said.*
