Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz reported yesterday that 548,010 Negrenses have already been vaccinated as of November 21, which constitutes 30 percent of the 1.8 million individuals targeted for inoculation.
Of the inoculated Negrenses, Diaz said 408,050 of them are fully vaccinated and 139,960 others got their first dose.
We have improved our performance during the past two weeks, he added.
The provincial government of Negros Occidental is targeting by February next year to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.
“Our focus now is to increase the number of our vaccination teams,” Diaz said, noting that the demands for vaccination increased, following deployment of inoculation teams to the different local government units.
The provincial government deployed vaccination teams to each of the nine government hospitals, on top of five other teams organized by the Provincial Health Office to augment vaccination teams of the different LGUs.
Diaz said they already pulled out medical front liners assigned in quarantine facilities to beef up the vaccination teams.
The EB Magalona quarantine facility will be releasing on Nov. 27 its last batch of positive patients, with Cadiz and Silay isolation facilities are now occupied by returning residents, who voluntarily underwent isolation, he added.
Diaz said he is optimistic that the three-day simultaneous vaccination activities all over the country from November 29 to December 1, will further increase the number of vaccinated individuals in Negros Occidental.
The vaccination teams of the Provincial Health Office assigned at the Negros Residences are also accommodating Bacolod City residents.
As of November 21, the Department of Health- Western Visayas- Center for Health Development reported that both Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have remained under Alert Level 2 classification.*
