There are now 5,512 quarantine violators in Bacolod City since May 20.

On Thursday up to Tuesday, personnel of 10 police stations, the Bacolod City Mobile Force Company, and Mobile Patrol Group apprehended 325 individuals for not wearing face masks and not practicing social distancing against the spread of COVID-19.

The Bacolod City Police Office said 77 individuals were apprehended Tuesday, 26 on Monday, 37 on Sunday, 47 on Saturday, 62 on July 17, and 76 on July 16.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Wednesday that local chief executives have agreed to come up with a uniform policy aimed at imposing tougher sanctions against those who violate health protocols as part of response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine News Agency reported.

“We suggest 10 to 30 days imprisonment for non-wearing a face mask and not observing physical distancing. For fines, it’s about P1,000 to P5,000,” Año said.

The measures will be implemented through ordinances, as COVID-19 cases in the country already reached over 70,000, the PNA report added.*
