Sixty-three farmers in Barangays Canlusong and San Isidro, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental have availed of indemnity assistance from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) at distribution rites on December 7 at municipal plaza covered court.
Engr. Erwin Poniado, the Municipal Planning and Development Officer, represented Mayor Marvin Malacon, along with Municipal Agriculturist Efren Garcia Jr. and Charlon Melendres, insurance underwriter of PCIC 3rd District, in the turnover of checks amounting to P234,749 to the beneficiaries, whose crops and livestock were damaged by pests, other diseases and the recent typhoon.
The PCIC assistance was facilitated by the Office of Mayor Marvin Malacon, through the Municipal Agriculture Office.
Garcia disclosed that Mayor Malacon has sponsored the insurance premiums of E. B. Magalona farmers and fisherfolk who want to insure their crops, livestock, and fishing boats.*
