64yo Bacolodnon succumbs to dengue

A 64-year-old male from Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City succumbed to dengue on February 5.

The victim is the first recorded death in Bacolod City this year due to dengue. He was admitted on February 3 and had four days of fever, as well as experienced shortness of breath, cough, and vomiting, according to reports from the CHO.

The CHO has recorded a total of 180 cases of dengue from January 1 to February 22, or an increase of 172.7 percent compared to the total number of cases last year, covering the same period, when there were 66 recorded cases of dengue last year with zero deaths.

The barangays with the highest recorded dengue cases are Mansilingan with 17 cases, Alijis and Estefania with 16 each, Taculing and Singcang – 13 each, Tangub – 12, and Villamonte – 11.*
