A 65-year-old farmer died in a shooting incident, while four others, including a minor, were injured in separate stabbing and hacking incidents on November 19 in Negros Occidental, police said.

Diosdado Fuentes, 65, was found dead on Saturday, at his farm in Sitio Tambobo, Brgy. Celestino Villacin, Cadiz City, according to an initial report of the Cadiz City police.

Fuentes, a farmer resident of Purok Pilar, Brgy. Divina Colonia, Sagay City, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. He was reported by the police to have been declared dead on arrival at the Sagay City District Hospital.

Initial police investigations showed that a witness, who owns a farm near the land being tilled by the victim, heard six gunshots before Fuentes was found dead.

Heated arguments also triggered a stabbing incident also on Nov. 19 at Purok May-ang in Brgy. Haba, Candoni, Negros Occidental.

The stabbing incident, as reported by the Candoni police, led to the injuries of a 17-year-old and William Parochilin. The suspect was identified by the police as Sanny Floreta.

The minor sustained stab wound on his left abdomen, while Parohilin had stab wound on his left arm. On the other hand, Floreta suffered lacerated wound on his upper eyelid and multiple abrasions on his hand and feet.

Police investigations showed that the victims and suspect were engaged in a drinking spree when the minor and Floreta figured in heated arguments.

Floreta, who was armed with a gaff, stabbed the minor, and Parochilin was also stabbed while trying to pacify the commotion.

Both victims and the suspect were brought to the Kabankalan District Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Alejandro Gonzales, 63, was also injured, after he was allegedly hacked by members of his family on Saturday in Sitio Marabo, Brgy. Mambaroto, Sipalay City.

Police investigations showed that the victim was on his way to the house of his older brother when he was hacked several times by three suspects, who turned out to be members of his family.

The three suspects were identified as Armando Gonzales Sr., 65-year-old brother of the victim, Jezah Mae Gonzales, 29, and Armando Gonzales Jr., a niece and nephew of the victim, respectively. They were arrested and are now detained at the police custodial facility.*
