Additional 7,500 doses of China-made Sinovac vaccines are expected to arrive in Bacolod City today for 3,750 residents, City Administrator Em Ang, the executive director of the Emergency Operations Center, said.

Ang said that as to the delivery of the British-Swedish AstraZeneca vaccines that the city purchased earlier, they expect the supply in July or August this year.

Bacolod purchased 650,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and is also in negotiation with the pharmaceutical firm for the procurement of 150,000 more jabs.

The inoculation turnout in Bacolod is high, with a total of 10,534 healthworkers and senior citizens vaccinated, as of yesterday, Ang said, adding that, they expect the vaccination acceptance rate to increase.

Earlier, she said, vaccine acceptance rate among Bacolodnons was at 58 percent, based on the surveys conducted on various barangays and through online registrations.

Ang added that they will resume their surveys in the barangays and will check their data online to ascertain the total number of residents who are now willing to be inoculated following the vaccination of several city officials, led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia. Leonardia and other city officials have already been inoculated using both AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines early this month.*
