It took almost seven hours for firefighters to battle a fire that hit two commercial buildings yesterday at Luzuriaga-Locsin Streets in Brgy. 37, Bacolod City.

The fire reportedly broke out at about 8:20 a.m. and it was declared put out by the Bureau of Fire and Protection and firefighters of Chamber Volunteer and Amity Fire Brigades at past 3 p.m. yesterday.

Prior to the incident, a spark was reportedly spotted from an electrical post close to the commercial establishment, and was believed as a potential trigger of the fire.

The fire later transferred to a neighboring building, whose upper floors are reportedly used as a storage area for plastic wares.

The BFP reported that the total damage caused by the fire, which originated from Jean’s Boutique and damaged Wan Li Marketing, was estimated at P20.2 million.

No one was reported by the BFP to have been hurt during the fire incident.

The BFP, headed by Chief Insp. Rodel Legaspi, is investigating the cause of the fire.*
