More than 700 farmers in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, received P3.5 million worth of financial assistance from the Department of Agriculture on February 3.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and DA regional director Remelyn Recoter led the distribution of assistance in Brgy. Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto.
The Department of Agriculture provides financial assistance to rice farmers as compensation to the projected reduction of farm income arising from the tariffication on rice.
Cauayan and Moises Padilla rice farmers also received similar assistance in previous weeks.
It was the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist led by Dr. Dina Genzola who facilitated the distribution of the cash assistance to the farmer-beneficiaries.
The farmers also received high value crop seeds.*
