Seventy-three barangays in Negros Occidental yesterday received P21.8 million worth of projects from the provincial government.
The assistance covers a wide range of community development initiatives, including installation of solar-powered streetlights, rehabilitation of health centers, improvement of barangay and multi-purpose halls, installation of water pipelines, construction of drainage systems and foot walks, as well as construction and riprapping of drainage canals.
Vice Governor Jose Benito Alonso led the ceremonial turnover of checks to the punong barangays and authorized representatives during a program held on November 19 at the Negros Occidental Food Terminal Market (FTMON) Hall in Bacolod City.
On the other hand, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II yesterday turned over checks worth P14.2 million to Saver Plan Medical and Healthcare Services, represented by its General Manager Elmer Doctora, as payment for the group health insurance coverage of provincial government employees.
The Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (PACE), led by its president Randy Peacita, and Capitol department heads witnessed the ceremonial turnover of the checks at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.
The Negros Occidental provincial government has been authorized to utilize the medical allowance granted under DBM Budget Circular No. 2024-6 for group insurance or other health-related benefits for eligible employees, as provided under Ordinance No. 005, Series of 2025.*
