74-year-old bags Bacolod Open Tenpin Cup

Tenpin players from Bacolod and 11 players of the D’Bowleros from Panay competed on April 22, at Loupe’s East Bowling Center, for the 3rd Bacolod Open Tenpin Cup, an annual commercial event hosted by the newly SEC registered Bacolod Monday Bowlers Club (BMBC).

A highlight of the event is when Patricio Mendoza won two straight games against newbie Lotis Contaoi of Yelos Food Hub in Bracket A in the finals, making the 74-Year-old Patricio Mendoza the Champion of the 3rd Bacolod Open Tenpin Cup.

Mendoza is the CEO of Mendoza Electrical Supply located in Central Market and his secret of his success is to enjoy bowling, have fun and eating a lot of bananas. His feat will be on record to be the oldest bowler to win the tournament.

The title of Bracket B Champion went to Pato Fadollone, who had to play 3 games to edge out Dr. Tony Hinolan, a 2022 Senior Division Champion of Negros Open Tenpin Cup.

Bracket C Champion went to STAI Youth Lance Gerard Tan, who beat Alyana Abelada on the third game.

FORMER OFWS RULE DIVISIONAL CATEGORY

Tenpin enthusiasts composed of from seniors, OFWS, professionals, businessmen, students, ladies and newbies joined the 3 divisions were set up for the tournament.

The Seniors Division, 49 and below, and the Green Horn Divisions all had the championships bagged by former OFWS.

The Senior Division the champion was Arnold Jesena of Jesenas Goto Classic, whose average was 210 pinfalls. In 49 and below, the champion was Alfred Valencia with an average of 229 pinfalls. In the Green Horns, the champion was Melai Valencia with 192 average pinfalls

The Senior Division the 1st runner up went to Neel Abordaje with 205 average pinfalls, and second runner up went to D Bowleros of Panay’s Jason Coo with 204 average pinfalls.

Green Horn Division first runner up was Lotis Contaoi with a 190 average, and second runner up went to Gina Lou Buyco’s 171 average. 

In the 49 and below category, first runner up went to Mae Memoracion with 212 average pinfalls, and second Runner was multi-awarded STAI youth Kyle Uy with 205 average pinfalls. 

Perfect game on No Tap 9 went to Arnold Jesena, highest single went to: Ladies – Minnie Chua (233), Senior – Eric Buyco (249), STAI Junior Micco Necesario (187), Green Horn Lotis Contaoi (225), STAI Youth Lance Tan (234), and 49 and Below Pato Fadollone (258).

This year’s theme is “Recognizing our Business Partners for a Cause” and the proceeds of the tournament will fund the development of youth bowlers, the health fund of members, and Community Social Outreach Programs.*
