• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

A series of intensified police operations in Negros Island Region, successfully carried out within a 24-hour period on August 6, led to the arrest of 75 persons linked to various criminal offenses.

Forty-two of the arrested are wanted persons, along with 12 drug personalities, 11 illegal gambling violators, and 10 engaged in illegal fishing.

In the campaign against illegal drugs, the Police Regional Office- Negros Island Region seized 239.5 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1,628,770, as well as P1,281 in illegal gambling bets.

The operations were carried out through the coordinated efforts of provincial and city police offices within the Negros Island Region, including intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical enforcement actions, according to PLt. Col. Joem Malong, the PRO-NIR spokesperson.

Malong added that the large-scale law enforcement operations effort were undertaken as part of the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO), a flagship program of the PNP which is strategically coordinated to target a broad range of criminal activities, including the arrest of wanted persons, the seizure of illegal drugs and unlicensed firearms, the dismantling of illegal gambling operations, and the enforcement of various local ordinances.

The successful 24-hour operation sends a strong message to criminal elements that PRO-NIR remains relentless in its pursuit of a safer, drug-free community, Malong added.*
