8 focus crimes decline in province

Over the past three months, the 8 Focus Crimes in the in Negros Occidental dropped by 31 incidents compared to the same period last year.

The Philippine National Police recorded 130 incidents in the province from January to March this year compared to 161 last year.

Also known as index crimes, the 8 Focus Crimes consist of murder, homicide, physical injuries, robbery, rape, theft and carnapping.

Murder cases also went down by 34 percent in Negros Occidental, from 50 last year to 38 this year.

On the other hand, homicide cases up by 50 percent, from five in 2021 to 10 this year.

Cases of physical injuries also reduced from 20 last year to 16 this year, rape incidents from 14 to 8, while there were 14 incidents of robbery in 2021, compared to 15 this year.

Meanwhile, incidents of theft went up by two incidents from 25 last year to 27 this year.

There were no reported carnapping incidents this year, while there were three incidents of stolen motorcycles last year.*
