8 focus crimes in Negros Occ. drop by 37.65%

The number of 8 focus crimes in Negros Occidental dropped by 250 cases, or 37.65 percent, in the past 11 months, compared to the same period last year.

In a report, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office reported a reduction of eight focus crimes, which are composed of murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, carnapping of vehicles, and motorcycles theft, reduced from 664 last year, to 414 this year.

Murder incidents dropped from 147 to 135, homicide from 49 to 38, physical injuries from 48 to 31, rape from 217 to 105, theft from 134 to 60, robbery from 51 to 38, motorcycle theft from 17 to 6, while NOCPPO recorded only a single carnapping incident.

In the same period, total crime incidents in Negros Occidental reduced by 518 incidents, or 12.81 percent compared to last year.

It dropped from 5,043 incidents last year to 3,525 this year, NOCPPO reports also showed.*
