The Talisay City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) led by Dionela Flores-Madrona, RSW, and the Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Neil Lizares, took immense pride in witnessing the recent graduation of 841 household beneficiaries from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), a press release from Talisay CSWD said.
It added that the occasion marks not just the end of their journey within the program but the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunities for growth, self-sufficiency, and community development.
With the theme “ANI 2024: Pagkilala sa kadalag-an nga naangkon sang tagsa ka benepisyaryo sang Pantawid Pamilya,” this year’s graduation ceremony celebrated the tireless efforts and determination of every household that persevered through challenges to achieve greater stability and independence.
The CSWD, in collaboration with the Talisay City LGU, remains committed to supporting these graduates through its aftercare program, part of the broader “Kilos-Unlad” social case management strategy. The program ensures that every beneficiary continues to receive the necessary guidance, training, and skills development opportunities to enhance their livelihood and further secure their futures.
Atty. Rowena “Weng” Lopez Lizares, the guest speaker, highlighted the crucial role of education and empowerment in uplifting communities.
The Angel’s Wings Foundation of Lizares, Talisay City first lady, also provided food packs to the graduates.
The press release expressed gratitude to the partnership and dedication shown by all program implementers and local leaders, especially 4Ps Provincial Link, Cherrilyn Alvarez, and the staff of Negros Provincial Operations Office 1. Their work in the field has been instrumental in achieving these milestones. Thanks was also extended to Vice Mayor Jose Nicolas Jalandoni III, Councilor Rolin Meliton, and other LGU officials who have supported such initiatives.
During the ceremony, Jenille Vergara, a 26-year-old teacher and daughter of a graduating household beneficiary, gave a testimony. She shared how the 4Ps program, particularly the Family Development Sessions (FDS), equipped her family with essential skills in budgeting and managing finances. Today, Jenille serves as Teacher 1 at Don Simplicio Lizares Memorial High School and stands as a testament to the possibilities that arise when communities and government work together.
In addition to celebrating the 4Ps graduates, the city also recognized its senior citizens through the #Gwapongaserbisyo initiative. Cash incentives were turned over to the city’s Longevity Awardees, honoring 58 senior citizens. Those aged 90 received P10,000, those aged 85 received P5,000, and those aged 80 received P3,000.
Talisay Mayor Neil Lizares extended his congratulations to the seniors, wishing them many more happy and healthy years ahead.*
